What spine thickness is needed with a certain amount of pages?

If your books contains more pages, the book naturally gets thicker. The spine of your book therefore grows as the number of pages increases. The width of your cover PDF should account for this growth.

The calculation for the total spine width is as follows: basic thickness + (extra pages / 2 x paper thickness). The basic thickness is 6 mm for hard cover books and 3 mm for soft cover books. This basic thickness is included in the basic width of the cover PDF!

You can find the paper thickness in the delivery specifications of the product. Print API will accept your cover PDF if it deviates no more than 1,5 mm from the specifcations.
